Garlands is located on the stunning South West Coast Path, so lace up your boots and head out along the clifftop route to Branscombe, a mere three miles away. You’ve earned Sunday lunch at The Masons Arms, a fabulous, thatched, 14th century inn, but do call ahead to book as it’s a popular spot. Day 2 of your 8 days nights in Beer guide.

Monday – Pecorama, Crealy, Donkeys

There’s plenty for kids, big and small, nearby. PecoramaCrealy Adventure Park and The Donkey Sanctuary as well as fossil hunting are all great fun. And of course, there’s Beer beach. If you’re by the sea for lunch, then the crab sandwich at Ducky’s Beach Café is a must. And all you budding Rick Steins can collect the fish bar’s catch of the day to take home for dinner. Tuesday – travel on a tram

Hop aboard the historic narrow gauge tram to the ancient town of Colyton. The route runs through two nature reserves and the unspoilt scenery of the Axe Valley, so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife on the way. Day 4 of your 8 days in Beer guide.

Wednesday – visit Lyme Regis

Head East to the magnificent, immaculate seaside fishing village of Lyme Regis. The harbour wall, known as the Cobb, provides a backdrop for many British period dramas. plan ahead to eat at one of the many restaurants Lyme has to offer. There’s still time to sample the best local vintages at Lyme Bay Winery or if you’re a Broadchurch fan, or just a fan of gorgeous beaches, a walk along the cliffs to West Bay is a must. Day 5 of your 8 days in Beer Devon.

Thursday – Beer Quarry Caves

If you see a few spots of rain, get absorbed in your guide’s stories at Beer Quarry Caves. The stone was quarried by hand and built some of our greatest landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. When the sky brightens, take an afternoon walk in Sidmouth, a wonderful resort with Georgian and Regency architecture. Meander along the promenade to Jacob’s Ladder, browse the quirky shops and enjoy a true Devonshire cream tea. Remember, jam goes on top! Day 6 of your 8 days in Beer guide.

Friday – Bicton Park
